Bhopal: Following Mohan Yadav’s election as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, acting CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan made a controversial statement, expressing his preference for death over asking for something from Centre. This remark has fueled speculation about a possible rift within the BJP leadership, involving PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Shivraj, the longest-serving chief minister of the state.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Chouhan declared, “I would rather die than resort to asking or begging for something.”
Following the media briefing, Chouhan was observed consoling a group of women who were visibly upset about his departure. The video capturing the emotional scene has gone viral on social media.
In the video, the women, affectionately referred to as “ladli bahans,” expressed their distress at Chouhan’s exit, declaring their unwavering support for him. Chouhan assured them, stating, “I am not going anywhere; I am staying here.” Users labeled him as a true party man in the comments.
However, amid the emotional display, some users mocked the situation, suggesting it was overdramatic and that the new CM also belonged to the BJP. It’s worth noting that many Ladli Bahnas in the state are dissatisfied with Chouhan’s replacement, fearing that the party might cease financial assistance under the “Ladli Bahna Yojana.” They express regret that their beloved ‘Bhaiya’ will no longer serve as the chief of Madhya Pradesh.
