United Nations, Aug 2 (UNI) Sierra Leone during its presidency of the United Nations Security Council this month will hold a debate on reforming the UN body, the country’s Ambassador Alie Kabba said on Thursday.
“This first is a focused debate on United Nations Security Council reform,” Kabba said during a briefing at the UN.
The meeting will mark the first time that the council holds a discussion on the topic, he said
He added that the debate would focus specifically on unfair representation of the African continent at the council.
The debate will be one of the signature events of Sierra Leone’s presidency of the Security Council for the month of August.
Sierra Leone took over the council’s rotating presidency from Russia, which held the post for the month of July.
