- Bhai Dooj celebrated with fervor
Bhopal: On Sunday, the city of Bhopal celebrated Bhai Dooj, marking the final day of the five-day Deepotsav festival with traditional customs and lively gatherings. Sisters applied tilak on their brothers’ foreheads, gave them sweets, and offered heartfelt prayers for their long life, happiness, and prosperity. The brothers, in turn, touched their sisters’ feet, took blessings, and pledged to protect them throughout their lives.
In many homes, women worshipped traditional representations of Bhai Dooj made of cow dung, performing rituals that hold symbolic importance. This unique ritual, alongside the tilak ceremony, emphasized the bond between siblings and underscored the significance of family values in the celebration.
Local residents shared that this year’s Bhai Dooj was observed with extra zeal, as it fell on Kartik Shukla Paksha Dwitiya, the third day of the Diwali festivities. The occasion added a spiritual close to the Diwali season, with both young and old participating enthusiastically in the rituals and traditions that connect families across generations.
Celebrated with immense fervor, Bhai Dooj this year not only strengthened sibling bonds but also reflected the community spirit and shared cultural heritage among Bhopal’s residents.
