- Challan action against those driving at speed
- 1580 challans issued in 10 months
Uday Maurya, Bhopal
Despite the deteriorating traffic system of the capital, those driving vehicles at high speed on the road are not being controlled. Youths who go out on the road with high speed and power bikes without caring about traffic rules drive at high speed.
Due to this, they often become victims of road accidents. In the last 8 months this year, a total of 155 people have lost their lives in accidents. To prevent road accidents and control speed, the police are taking the help of n interceptor vehicle. In the last 10 months, the interceptor has taken challan action against a total of 1580 drivers driving at high speed.
For the smooth functioning of the traffic system of Bhopal city, traffic signals have been installed at more than 70 crossings and intersections, but they remain out of order most of the time. In such a situation, the police have to manage the traffic. The traffic police makes efforts at its level, but the traffic system is not smooth in any area of ??the city. In areas where the traffic moves at a slow speed, road accidents are less, but in open areas, people drive at high speed and invite road accidents. There is no control on the speed of vehicles on the most beautiful roads of the city, VIP Road, Atal Path, Airport Road, State Hangar, Gandhi Nagar to Jail Road, Link Road Number One, Hoshangabad Road, Ayodhya Bypass Road, Misrod to Khajuri Ring Road. Not only are the speed of vehicles high on these roads, but many people also do not refrain from doing stunts.
There are no speed limit boards on the roads: Speed limits are fixed on different roads of the city, but due to the absence of speed limit boards on many roads, people drive vehicles at high speed. When the police catch such people and give them advice or take action against them, they start arguing and ask to show the board. This argument between drivers and police can be seen at every checking point.
Bike riders run away after seeing checking
The police check vehicles on the road to make people follow traffic rules and catch goons and miscreants. Bike riders who do not wear helmets suddenly turn their vehicles and run away after seeing the police checking, which often leads to accidents. Such incidents are often seen at Link Road, Tin Shed, Atal Path, Retghat, Lalghati Chauraha and other places. Police officers say that such people not only put their own lives at risk, but also pose a threat to the lives of others.
