Stolen goods worth Rs 45 lakhs recovered from 5-member gang

Bhopal: The capital’s Ratibad police has arrested a 5-member burglary gang. During interrogation, the accused have admitted to committing about a dozen crimes. The police have recovered property worth about Rs 45 lakh from their possession, including gold and silver jewellery and vehicles. Apart from various police station areas of Bhopal, the miscreants have also committed crimes in Raisen. This gang used to do recce of empty houses and temples during the day and commit crimes at night.

According to the information, in the incidents of burglary in Ratibad as well as TT Nagar, Kamala Nagar, Mandideep, Baghsewania, Piplani, Katara Hills and other places, reports of theft of jewellery, two-wheelers and four-wheelers worth lakhs of rupees were registered in the respective police stations. For the arrest of the accused, separate teams of police from Ratibad as well as nearby police stations were formed.

Along with inspecting the crime scenes, the police teams gathered information about the criminals released from jail. Also, they prepared the route map of the criminals by examining the footage of about 250 CCTV cameras installed in the area. During this, it was found that a team of five friends carried out the crimes after doing recce in various areas of the city.
