Bhopal: Under the aegis of Madhya Pradesh State Committee of Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist), today on 29th August 2024, hundreds of students, teachers, youths, women, labourers, farmers, employees from various districts of the state protested at Shahjahani Park Bhopal against the increasing crimes against women and girls, handing over education, health, electricity and water to private hands for profiteering and depriving the poor common people of this and other public problems.
Addressing the public meeting organized after the protest, Central Committee Member and Bihar State Secretary of SUCI (Communist) Arun Singh said that the MP government is preparing to hand over government hospitals to private hands under the PPP model in the name of opening new medical colleges. Big promises are being made to CM Rise schools by admitting students from government schools within a radius of 5 to 10 kms., while government schools are being made without students and quality-less by opening private schools without following the prescribed parameters of infrastructure. And preparations are being made to close 94000 government schools in MP.
Central Committee member and Madhya Pradesh State Secretary Comrade Pratap Samal said that the state government has a complete plan to amend the electricity law made in the interest of the general public and install prepaid smart meters for the profit of electricity companies. If this is implemented, then there will be darkness in the homes of lakhs of poor families of the state. In this dire situation, the poor common hardworking people of the state will be deprived of education, health and electricity, while a democratic government runs on crores of rupees collected from the general public through various types of taxes.
The program was presided over by State Secretariat member Dr. Ram Avatar Sharma and various representatives from various districts including Guna, Gwalior, Indore, Dewas, Ujjain, Sagar, Jabalpur participated in this state level protest. State committee members Mudit Bhatnagar, Sachin Jain, Manish Shrivastava, Rachna Agrawal, Pradeep RB etc. also addressed the program. The program was initially conducted by Com. Lokesh Sharma and the memorandum of 12 point demands was read out by Com. Jolly Sarkar.
