Swachh Bharat Diwas is celebrated to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary and Swachhta Hi Seva Pakhwada is being celebrated since its inception. This year, to honor the tenth anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission, Swachhta Hi Seva Abhiyan will be held from 17 September to 1 October with the theme of Swabhaav Swachhta Sanskar Swachhta and Swachh Bharat Diwas celebrations will be held on 2 October.
It is noteworthy that in the last 10 years, the state has achieved many important achievements in Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural).
The second phase of Swachh Bharat Mission started from the year 2020, in which the target was set to make all villages ODF Plus in the model category by managing solid and liquid waste while keeping them free from open defecation by 2024. For this, till now more than 8 lakh new toilets have been built, more than 16 thousand community sanitation complexes have been built, facilities for managing solid waste in more than 44 thousand villages and liquid waste management assets in more than 48 thousand villages have been built, by making more than 41 thousand villages of the state ODF Plus model. More than 100 units were formed under Gobardhan Yojana to benefit the community by making cow dung manure and bio gas from animal dung. The state is moving ahead in the direction of making ODF Plus model villages and is constantly striving to achieve its target on time.
