Bengaluru, Aug 22 (UNI) In a thrilling T20 contest at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Mysore Warriors secured a 28-run victory over the Shivamogga Lions, driven by a game-changing performance from Vidyadhar Patil and an explosive finish from J Suchith and Manoj Bhandage.
The game began with the Mysore Warriors setting a challenging total of 179/7. Karun Nair spearheaded their innings with a quickfire 45, while a late burst from J Suchith and Manoj Bhandage ensured the Warriors had a formidable target.
Despite an early onslaught from Shivamogga’s Sharath HS, who claimed four wickets and put the Mysore batsmen on the back foot, the depth of Mysore’s batting lineup proved crucial.
With the game slipping away, the spotlight shifted back to the Mysore’s late-innings fireworks. J Suchith and Manoj Bhandage launched a blistering assault, with Bhandage’s quickfire 23 off just seven balls and Suchith’s explosive 22* guiding the Warriors to a competitive total. Their late surge, particularly Bhandage’s three consecutive sixes off Vasuki Koushik, proved to be the finishing touch that sealed the game in Mysore’s favour.
As Shivamogga came out to chase, the match took a decisive turn early on. Vidyadhar Patil, with his immaculate line and length, dismantled Shivamogga’s top order in spectacular fashion. His brilliant first over saw Mohith Bangalore and Dheeraj Mohan sent back to the pavilion in consecutive deliveries, setting the tone for the rest of the innings.
Shivamogga, struggling to recover from Patil’s early blow, found themselves at 41/3 by the end of the powerplay.
Shivamogga’s captain, Nihal Ullal, along with Abhinav Manohar, fought hard to revive the chase. Their 70-run partnership briefly gave Shivamogga hope, but crucial breakthroughs from the Mysore bowlers kept the pressure on.
Karthik CA’s tight spells and Patil’s continued control over the innings ensured that the Lions never truly gained momentum.
In the end, Shivamogga’s chase fizzled out at 151/9, leaving them to grapple with their sixth consecutive loss. The Mysore Warriors’ victory was a testament to their balanced team effort, combining Patil’s early breakthroughs with a powerful finish, proving too much for the struggling Lions.
As the teams walked off the field, the Mysore Warriors celebrated their well-deserved win, while the Shivamogga Lions were left to ponder their approach in the upcoming fixtures.
