Telangana CM highlights historic loan waiver, vows development for Palamuru region

Mahabubnagar (Telangana), Nov 30 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has emphasised his government’s unwavering commitment to farmers’ welfare, announcing a record loan waiver of Rs 21,000 crore benefiting 25 lakh farmers within the first year of Congress rule.

Addressing the concluding day of a three-day Farmers’ Festival at Amistapur in Mahabubnagar district on Saturday, CM Reddy outlined his government’s efforts to transform the region and uplift its people.

The Chief Minister inaugurated several development projects, distributed bank linkage loans to self-help groups, and released loan waivers amounting to Rs 2,747 crore to over 3 lakh farmers.

He also toured stalls set up by the Agricultural University, showcasing innovative agricultural practices.

Reddy criticised the previous governments, accusing them of neglecting farmers and failing to fulfill promises.

“The BRS government spent a mere Rs 11,000 crore on loan waivers in five years, of which only Rs 2,500 crore reached the farmers remaining went to interest,” he said, challenging political opponents to match Congress’ achievements.

The Chief Minister accused former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of ignoring the Palamuru (Mahabubnagar) region, stating, “KCR promised to adopt Palamuru but left it in despair, increasing migration instead.”

He vowed to complete pending irrigation projects like the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project, ensuring water for 20 lakh acres of farmland and transforming barren lands into fertile fields.

Highlighting the region’s industrial potential, the CM announced plans to establish a large industrial estate in Kodangal, promising jobs for 25,000 people.

He assured farmers and residents affected by development projects that they would be adequately compensated and supported.

“Development requires sacrifices, but we will ensure a brighter future for the next generation,” he said.

In a fiery appeal, the Chief Minister urged people to reject divisive politics and support Congress’ vision for the region.

“I am one among you, born here and rooted in this soil. Together, we will build a prosperous Palamuru,” he declared.

Reddy urged every youth to emulate his dedication and work for the region’s development.

“I am here to serve you. Bless me with your support, and let us turn every conspiracy against us into a stepping stone for success,” he said.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, senior ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and state officials, including Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari.
