Hyderabad, (UNI) Telangana government will purchase 3,000 electric buses in the next two years in order to protect Hyderabad city from pollution, said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy here on Thursday evening.
Participating in ‘Praja Palana Vijayotsavalu’ organized by state Transport department here to commemorate achievements of the Transport Department staff on completion of one year of people’s government in office, he talked about government’s responsibility to make the city pollution-free.
Transport department plays a key role in controlling pollution in the city and it is people’s responsibility to scrap the old vehicles, he said and added that the government was preparing plans to offer incentives to run electric autos in Hyderabad city.
To promote electric-vehicle adoption, the government had earlier announced to provide a 100 percent exemption from road tax and registration fee on purchase of electric vehicles (two-wheelers, four-wheelers, commercial passenger vehicles such as taxis, three-seater autorickshaws and electric light goods carriers).
