Telangana tourism shines at World Travel Market in London

Hyderabad, Nov 6 (UNI) Telangana Tourism, Prohibition & Excise, and Archaeology Minister Jupally Krishna Rao represented the state at the 44th World Travel Market (WTM), which commenced at the ExCel Exhibition Halls in London.

The event, themed “Emerging Technology’s Potential for Good in Tourism,” aims to showcase the impact of advancing technology on the tourism industry.

Minister Jupally joined India’s High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, and the Central Tourism Department Director General, Mugdha Sinha, for the inauguration of India’s “Incredible India” pavilion, an official statement here said on Tuesday.

Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, accompanied by Telangana Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, inaugurated Telangana’s dedicated stall at the WTM, where the state’s rich culture and historic attractions were highlighted through a digital showcase that captivated the global audience.

The Telangana stall attracted notable visitors, including India’s High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami; Central Tourism Department DG Mugdha Sinha; Goa’s Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte; Odisha Deputy CM Pravati Parida; and Ramoji Film City MD Vijayeshwari. The dignitaries praised the audio-visual display set up by Telangana’s Tourism Department.

Minister Jupally conducted several high-level meetings with international tourism representatives and officials from India’s central and state tourism departments to discuss collaborative tourism development strategies.

Notably, he met with Alure Rehman, Chairman of the London Tea Exchange, to explore opportunities for foreign investment in Telangana’s tourism sector. Discussions included the possibility of establishing a Tea Exchange outlet and a landmark Ferris wheel similar to the London Eye in Hyderabad. Minister Jupally underscored the importance of attracting foreign tourists to Telangana and enhancing the state’s tourism infrastructure.

Highlighting Telangana’s tourism initiatives under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Minister Jupally pointed out the state’s commitment to creating a robust infrastructure to support tourism growth. He expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s focus on the tourism sector, which has enabled Telangana to showcase its unique appeal on an international platform like the WTM.

Speaking at the event, Minister Jupally emphasised Telangana’s proactive approach to tourism development and the strategic importance of the WTM as a platform for promoting the state’s attractions globally. He further advocated for collaborative efforts among Indian states to attract foreign tourists.

In addition to the Telangana stall inauguration, Minister Jupally attended the opening of the “Incredible India” stalls alongside High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami and DG Mugdha Sinha.

Other key attendees included Telangana Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, MLAs Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy (Gadwal), Rajesh Reddy (Nagarkurnool), Kasireddy Narayana Reddy (Kalwakurthy), Dr. Vamsi Krishna (Achampet), Anirudh Reddy (Jadcherla), Principal Secretary for Tourism and Culture N. Sridhar, and Managing Director of Telangana Tourism Development Corporation, Prakash Reddy.

The three-day World Travel Market in London features participation from 125 countries, along with representatives from over ten Indian states, celebrating and promoting global tourism.
