Temps rise in major cities including Bhopal

  • Further rise in mercury likely between March 27 and 31

Bhopal: The mood of the weather in Madhya Pradesh has shifted over the last few days. Many districts have experienced crop damage due to rain, storms, and hail, while some areas have also felt the effects of heat. However, the sequence of rain and hail is expected to cease, after which temperatures may rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, a new Western Disturbance will become active starting Sunday, impacting the Western Himalayan region. Its effects may also be felt in Madhya Pradesh within two days.

On Sunday, Bhopal experienced strong sunlight from morning, leading to a maximum temperature exceeding 34 degrees Celsius. Similar trends are noted in Indore, Ujjain, and Gwalior, with increasing temperatures expected.

Potential for Heat Waves

The Meteorological Department forecasts further temperature increases between March 27 and 31, with mercury levels potentially surpassing 40 degrees in several areas. A heat wave is possible in certain locations, defined as a day temperature that is 4.6 degrees Celsius higher than normal.

The summer season has officially begun in March, with expectations of intense heat over the next four months. Heat waves may have a more significant impact in April and May, with forecasts suggesting heat wave conditions could occur for 15 to 20 days between March and May. Additionally, hot winds are likely to blow for 30 to 35 days during April and May.
