Bengaluru, June 30 (UNI) Reflecting on the country’s triumphant moment in the T20 World Cup 2024, cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday underscored the pivotal role of his close friend Rahul Dravid in steering Team India to glory.
Under Dravid’s astute leadership, Team India showcased exceptional resilience and skill, overcoming challenges to secure the coveted title. “I am very happy for my friend Rahul Dravid, who missed out on the 2011 World Cup win but his leadership in this T20 World Cup victory has been immense. I am so, so happy for him,” Tendulkar expressed warmly on X.
Tendulkar also lauded Rohit Sharma’s outstanding captaincy, noting his ability to motivate the team after the setback of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
“Rohit Sharma’s superb captaincy has been commendable! To rebound from the 2023 ODI World Cup disappointment and lead the team to victory in the T20 World Cup is truly remarkable,” Tendulkar noted.
Jasprit Bumrah’s exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Tournament award, while Virat Kohli’s crucial contributions were recognised with the Player of the Match award in key matches throughout the tournament.
Acknowledging the continuity and mentorship within the Indian cricket team, Tendulkar highlighted the influential roles of Paras Mhambrey and Vikram Rathour, both of whom made their international debut just like Dravid in 1996, as integral to India’s success. “It was inspiring to witness Team India excel under the guidance of this ’96 cohort,” Tendulkar reminisced warmly.
“Every star added to the Team India jersey inspires our nation’s starry-eyed children to move one step closer to their dreams,” Tendulkar remarked proudly, as India proudly added the 4th star, marking another significant milestone in their cricketing legacy.
