The 52-day-long Amarnath Yatra concludes

Srinagar, Aug 18 (UNI) The 52-day-long Amarnath Yatra concluded after the ‘Charri Mubarak’ the silver mace of Lord Shiva reached the holy cave Shrine of Amarnath where traditional prayers were held on the occasion of ‘Sharavan Purnima’ amid Vedic hymns on Monday.

A record over 5 lakh pilgrims including national and international paid obeisance at the Cave shrine this year amid unprecedented arrangements put in place by the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

The “Chhari Mubarak”, depicting one Lord Shiva and another Goddess Parvati, led by Mahant Deependra Giri and a group of Sadhus reached the Cave shrine at the height of 12,756 ft above sea level this afternoon from Panchtarni and prayers were held amid religious fervour and Vedic hymns.

Special prayers were held for the peace, progress, and stability of the country and Jammu and Kashmir.

The Amarnath Yatra began on June 29 from the twin routes of Baltal in Ganderbal and NunWan Pahalgam in Anantnag district culminating on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan Day being celebrated across the country on Monday.

Meanwhile, Chinar Corps Commander Lt General Rajiv Ghai visited the holy Amarnath Cave and paid obeisance on the occasion of Chhari Mubarak, on the concluding day of 52 days Amarnath Yatra 2024.

The Yatra concluded peacefully, after the “Chhari Mubarak Ritual”, which entailed performing prayer for world peace and humanity.

The Corps Commander appreciated the efforts of Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Headquarters, and civil administration/ offices for their detailed planning, sound security arrangements, pilgrim-friendly administrative arrangements, rendering essential medical aid and tireless dedication which ensured lifetime experience for over five lakh pilgrims this year.
