London, Aug 3 (UNI) Three police officers were injured and hospitalized in riots in Sunderland, England, Sky News broadcaster reported.
According to the report, a police station was set on fire and objects were thrown at officers during the protests that turned into unrest.
After riots broke out in Sunderland, apparently in response to the Southport stabbings, eight people were arrested for a number of offenses, including violent disorder and burglary.
Last week, three young girls were killed and several others critically injured after a knife attack on a children’s dance club in Southport, England.
This sparked mass protests and clashes with police amid unconfirmed reports that the knifeman was a refugee. More protests are expected to take place this weekend in 15 UK cities.
