Chennai, Oct 25 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin on Wednesday announced a four per cent hike in Dearness Allowance from 42 per cent to 46 per cent for the state government employees and teachers with retrospective effect from July 1 this year.
An official release here, the hike was in line with the announcement made by the Union Government a couple of days back.
The release said despite the state government facing severe financial crunch, Mr Stalin had been favourably considering the requests of the state government employees and teachers and had been hiking the DA whenever it was increased by the Centre.
Following the centre’s recent hike, the Tamil Nadu government also hiked the DA for its employees and teachers by four per cent from the present 42 to 46 per cent, the release said.
Mr Stalin’s announcement would benefit about 16 lakh State government employees, teachers, pensioners and family pensioners.
The government will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 2,546.16 crore in this regard and would allocate additional funds considering the welfare of its employees and teachers, it said.
