- Villagers not afraid of even death when their wish fulfilled
Harish Rathod, Petlawad
A strange tradition is prevalent in Roopgarh village of Petlawad tehsil. Here on the second day of Diwali, dozens of people come with a wish and lie down on the ground. Then more than a dozen cows are let loose on them.
On Friday again a unique faith was seen in Roopgarh village of Petlawad. Like every year also, on the second day of Diwali, cows were worshipped in the morning in the village. After the worship, people lay down on the ground and cows were let loose on them.
It is believed that by doing this the wish is fulfilled and only those people whose wish is fulfilled do this. Behind the tradition, people believe that 33 crore gods and goddesses reside in the cow and by trampling under the feet of the cow, one gets the blessings of the gods. Actually, in the name of faith, people’s lives are also being staked here. An age-old tradition has to be followed for which people participate in this event held on the second day of Diwali festival.
