Washington, Feb 16 (UNI) The administration of US President Donald Trump has fired more than 300 employees of the US National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), CNN reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
The layoffs took place on Thursday night. Among those dismissed were staff working at key facilities, including those who oversee contractors who build and inspect nuclear weapons, as well as those who set guidelines for contractors building nuclear weapons, the broadcaster said.
Meanwhile, an Energy Department spokesperson disputed the number of people fired to CNN, saying that “less than 50 people,” mostly in administrative and clerical roles, had been laid off.
On Friday, CNN reported, citing a source familiar with the matter, that Trump’s administration was forcing out senior leadership of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) as part of a major personnel shakeup.
