Undertaking presented by government in High Court

  • Decision in Bangre case may be taken on Monday

The government will take a decision on the pending departmental inquiry against Deputy Collector Nisha Bangre and her resignation by Monday evening.

On behalf of the government, an undertaking in this regard was presented before the double bench of High Court Chief Justice Ravi Vijay Kumar Malimath and Justice Vishal Mishra. The double bench has scheduled the next hearing on the petition after the Dussehra holiday. It is noteworthy that the Deputy Collector had filed an SLP in the Supreme Court challenging the government not accepting the resignation. The Supreme Court had issued instructions to the petitioner Deputy Collector to submit the application before the High Court within a day or two, explaining the reason for his resignation. The Supreme Court had directed the High Court to decide the petitioner’s application expeditiously. Petitioner’s advocate Varun Tankha said that during the hearing held in the High Court on Friday, an undertaking was given by the government that the government will take a decision by Monday evening regarding the pending departmental inquiry against the Deputy Collector and her resignation.
