Universities and Teachers Should Empower Youth to Serve Nation and Society While Upholding Cultural Values: Patel

Bhopal, Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel, while paying tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Father of the Constitution and an advocate for a harmonious and inclusive nation, stated that Baba Saheb’s remarkable foresight has gifted us the legacy of an inclusive society, free from discrimination based on caste, gender, language, religion, wealth, and power, through the Constitution. Governor Shri Patel was addressing the 6th convocation of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University of Social Sciences in Mhow on Friday. Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat, former Chancellor of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University Lucknow Dr. Prakash C. Barattunia, and MLA Sushri Usha Thakur were also present at the function, which was presided over by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel emphasized that the Constitution is an inspiring document and a modern religious text of independent India. He stated that adhering to it with dedication is the ultimate duty of every Indian. He further highlighted that students have the responsibility to support and protect the Constitution through their conduct and behavior, and to work towards the development of marginalized and backward sections of society. He also mentioned that Prime Minister Shri Modi has provided educational institutions with the opportunity to prepare citizens for nation-building through the National Education Policy, aligning with Baba Saheb’s vision. He urged universities and teachers to prepare young individuals dedicated to social prosperity and equality, in accordance with the country’s cultural needs.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel emphasized the importance of an education system that fosters entrepreneurship, innovation, critical thinking, and leadership qualities, while also instilling values of social responsibility among students. He highlighted that youth are the nation’s greatest strength and envisioned them leading the country towards a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) as the nation approaches its centenary of independence.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has said that Baba Saheb Ambedkar described receiving education in adverse circumstances as a matter of pride and being exemplary. He said that whatever Baba Saheb learned, he dedicated it to the society. The Constitution of the country is proof that links India’s diverse culture, tribes, citizens, etc. together. Baba Saheb has glorified the Constitution with a combination of pictures. He said that during his tenure as Education Minister, he started many faculties in this university.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced plans to establish additional faculties at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University of Social Sciences in Mhow, aligning with the institution’s evolving needs. He expressed confidence that a decision on this matter would be reached during the upcoming Vice-Chancellors’ meeting, chaired by the Governor, scheduled for January. Dr. Yadav emphasized the importance of skill development and clear guidance for youth, aiming to make the university self-reliant. He also welcomed the Governor’s initiative to confer degrees to students through the convocation ceremony and wished the students success in their educational endeavors.

During the 6th convocation ceremony of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University of Social Sciences in Mhow, 16 researchers were awarded PhD degrees. Over the past five years, more than 100 researchers have obtained their PhDs from the university. In the current session, 851 students received degrees, with PhD recipients honored on stage.

The ceremony commenced with guests paying homage by garlanding the statues of Maa Saraswati, Lord Buddha, and Babasaheb, followed by the lighting of lamps. The Vice Chancellor, Shri Ramlal Atram, delivered the welcome address, and the Registrar proposed the vote of thanks.
