UP: 4 killed, 6 injured after bus overturns in Hardoi

Hardoi (UP), July 9 (UNI) Four people, including three women, were killed and six others were injured when a private bus overturned after ramming into a roadside hut in the Madhoganj area of Hardoi district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police sources said.

Police sources said that the incident took place in Shekhwapur village when the bus going to Unnao from Hardoi overturned after ramming into the hut.

“Nankahi (50), Asha (55), Momina (40), and Sufiyaan (15), who were sitting on the cot outside the hut, were killed in the incident,” they said.

Police sources said that the deceased were buried under the debris after the mud wall of the hut collapsed.

“The debris was removed with the help of the machine, and the injured were taken to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead,” they said.

Police sources said that 25 passengers were travelling in the bus at the time of the incident, of whom six sustained serious injuries.

“The injured have been admitted to the hospital. Local police and administration officials are present on the spot and are carrying out relief and rescue work,” they said.

Police sources said that it is being said that the shaft of the bus broke due to a pothole on the road, after which its brakes failed and it rammed into the hut. “The incident is being investigated by the police,” they said.
