Washington, Aug 3 (UNI) A severe storm damaged multiple US military aircraft at the Fort Carson military installation in the state of Colorado, the Fort Carson public affairs office said on Friday.
“At approximately 8 p.m. August 1, a significant weather event occurred at Butts Army Heliport. Initial reports indicate the event caused damage to multiple aircraft belonging to the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division,” the base said in a press release.
The release noted that the weather damaged a variety of aircraft including Apaches, Chinooks, and Black Hawks.
Military officials continue to assess the damage, the release added.
Footage on social media showed Apache and Black Hawk helicopters tipped over on their side during the severe storm on Thursday at Fort Carson.
