Deharadun, (UNI) Four out of 55 rescued construction workers, who were caught in a massive avalanche at remote Mana village in Uttarakhand, have died, informed V K Suman, secretary of Disaster Management, here on Saturday night.
He told by tonight a GPR radar is also reaching Jolly Grant airport from Delhi by a special plane.
Notably, 55 workers engaged in road construction work were trapped due to avalanche near Mana, the last village situated on the high ranges of Himalayas on India-China border under Chamoli district at 6 am on Friday.
Out of these, 43 workers were rescued on the same day with the help of Army while 17 others were rescued on Saturday morning. They have been admitted to Army hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
A total of 50 workers have been rescued so far. Out of which, 26 workers who were undergoing treatment at Badrinath Mana, three have died this evening while 23 are safe and healthy.
Apart from these, one worker has reportedly died at AIIMS, Rishikesh.
The search for other five workers has been stopped for now due to darkness and continous snowfall.
