New Delhi, (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener, Arvind Kejriwal, on Thursday appealed to the public to press the ‘Broom’ button in the Delhi Assembly elections to avail free electricity, water, education, and quality healthcare.
Addressing public gatherings in Hari Nagar, Rajouri Garden and Madipur constituencies, Kejriwal warned voters that pressing the wrong button could lead to discontinuation of free electricity, water, education, and healthcare, in return urging them to vote for the Broom symbol.
“For the last 10 years, we have worked with the people of Delhi to improve the city. Over this period, we have achieved a lot. Ten years ago, Delhi used to face power cuts lasting up to eight hours, but now we have ensured 24-hour electricity. Generators and inverters are no longer needed. Today, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is visiting Delhi, and we warmly welcome him to the city of hearts. I want to ask Mr Yogi why, despite having a double-engine BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, the state still faces prolonged power cuts. I have heard that Noida experiences six-hour outages, Lucknow has eight-hour cuts, and many parts of Uttar Pradesh suffer 10-hour power cuts,” he said.
The AAP leader claimed that Delhi is the only place in the country with 24-hour electricity.
He cautioned voters, saying, “If you press the wrong button, your home’s power supply will be disrupted. If you vote for the ‘Lotus’ symbol, you might return home to find a blackout similar to Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, or Haryana. People in Uttar Pradesh pressed the wrong button and are suffering the consequences.”
Kejriwal highlighted the improvements in Delhi’s government schools, where education is now free, and schools have been significantly upgraded.
He criticized the poor condition of government schools in Uttar Pradesh despite Yogi Adityanath’s decade-long tenure. He offered to send Delhi’s Education minister to assist in improving schools in Uttar Pradesh.
“BJP governs 20 states, yet the condition of government schools in all these states remains deplorable,” he alleged.
He emphasized, “Bus travel for women in Delhi is entirely free, unlike in BJP-ruled states.
“Every month, families in Delhi save around Rs 5,000 on electricity bills, Rs 10,000 on children’s education, Rs 2,000-2,500 on women’s bus travel and Rs 5,000 on healthcare. This means AAP’s government saves each family Rs 20,000-22,000 every month.
“It is now clear that the Aam Aadmi Party is set to form the government in Delhi once again,” he said, adding that even the BJP admits this.
