New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday met Speaker Om Birla and asked him for smooth functioning of the House and also urged that derogatory comments against him be expunged.
Later talking to the media, Gandhi said, “Running the House is not the responsibility of the Opposition. But we will run the House.”
Gandhi said, “I met the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and told him that the derogatory comments made against me should be expunged. The Speaker said that he will examine them.”
He said, “December 13, has been scheduled for debate on Constitution in the House and we want the House to run, and the debate should take place, irrespective of what they say about me.”
When asked about the Adani issue, Gandhi said, “One thing is clear, they don’t want discussion on Adani. They want to distract us from Adani and they have been doing it and we know that. But at the end, we will not leave that.”
Reacting to US businessman George Soros, the Raebareli MP said that the ruling party will keep on levelling allegations, “but we want the House to run.”
The Zero Hour on Wednesday witnessed an unruly scene when the treasury and opposition benches created an uproar over the George Soros issue.
