Wayanad Lok Sabha byelection: Priyanka Gandhi likely to file nomination on Oct 23

Wayanad, Oct 18 (UNI) Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is likely to file her nomination for the November 13 Wayanad Lok Sabha byelection in Kerala on October 23.

Priyanka’s brother and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and senior Congress leaders will accompany her during the filing of nomination papers.

An Independent candidate Dr K Padmarajan on Friday filed the nomination papers before the District Collector D.R Meghashree on the first day of the filing nomination process for the bypoll began.

Congress sources said a “massive roadshow will be organized by Congress led United Democratic Front (UDF) workers at Kalpetta, in connection with the filing of nomination by Priyanka Gandhi on October 23.

CPI candidate Sathyan Mokeri will contest from CPI(M) led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and his election campaign will kick start from tomorrow.

The name of BJP candidate has not finalised yet. Reports said BJP leader and actor-turned Khusbu

Sundar or BJP Kerala leader Sobha Surendran will contest against Priyanka Gandhi from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat.

The bypoll in Wayanad Parliamentary Constituency was necessitated following the resignation of incumbent MP Rahul Gandhi after he decided to retain the Raebareli seat. He won from two seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

The last date for filing of nominations is October 25.
