Srinagar, Nov 8 (UNI) National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Friday said that it has been proven to the world that the decision taken by the central government on August 5, 2019 is not acceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly passed a resolution on November 6 seeking restoration of special status under Article 370 to J&K.
The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) opposed the move and described it as “unconstitutional”, “undemocratic” and without any legal validity. The BJP members walked out of the house in protest also today.
“BJP was earlier also calling Article 370 unconstitutional. But today it has been proved that the decision taken by them (BJP) on August 5, 2019 is not acceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, Farooq told media persons outside the Assembly complex this evening.
Farooq watched the proceedings of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Friday on the last day of the first session which was called on November 4.
In reply to a question, Farooq said the day will come as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah had said the people will get their dignity back.
“May be I would not be alive or Omar would not be there, but the people of Jammu and Kashmir will see..the day will come”, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said.
