Wild elephant management study team reaches Karnataka

The wild elephant management study team of forest officials of Madhya Pradesh reached Karnataka on Wednesday. On the first day, the study team had a detailed discussion with Dr. Manoj Kumar, APCCF (Project Elephant) of Karnataka State to know the best practices implemented by the Karnataka Forest Department for Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC) management.

The study team of the state visited Bannerghatta National Park, Bengaluru. During this, DCF Prabhakar Priyadarshi of Bannerghatta National Park, Bengaluru gave field-based information to the team about various HEC mitigation measures. He informed the study team about various field strategies like elephant control room, monitoring room, railway barriers, solar flooding, hanging tentacle flooding and advanced warning animals. The Madhya Pradesh study team also interacted with ETF staff and RRT members, from which the study team gained important information about wild elephant management in Karnataka.
