Yoga brings harmony b/w mind, body & soul: Amit Shah

New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said there is no science greater than yoga, as it brings harmony between mind, body and soul and through this medium one can walk on the path of welfare of the world.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Shah practiced Yoga in Ahmedabad, and greeted all yoga-lovers in the country and the world, am official statement said here.

Addressing a gathering, the Minister of Cooperation said that Yoga is also the solution to many diseases prevalent today.

Shah said today the whole world was accepting, learning and teaching yoga and not only in India, but millions of people all over the world have accepted yoga wholeheartedly and have worked together for taking it forward.

Shah said with the support of all, including the Gujarat government, around 1.25 crore people practised yoga in the state this morning. He praised the state government for promoting yoga and also recognising it as a sport.

“Yoga is fulfilling the mantra of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ enshrined in our Vedas. On 21 June, yoga is being practised all across the world at some point of time or the other. Through yoga, we can realise the ethos of selfless action with dedicated and continuous efforts. The regular practice of yoga is necessary to implement the mantra of welfare of the entire world,” Shah said.

The Home Minister said June 21 holds a special significance as the whole world is celebrating the 10th International Yoga Day. He said after becoming Prime Minister, Modi proposed at the United Nations General Assembly to celebrate the day as International Yoga Day.

He stated that within a few days, more than 170 countries agreed to celebrate Yoga Day and from there on the whole world followed the path of Yoga.
